Room # 8 – Mom's Room

So named because both of our moms choose this room when they can come for a visit, as do many of the matriarchs of family groups who visit. We strongly suspect it's due to the close proximity of the fabulous front porch and the rocking chairs awaiting them, not to mention the comfortable full size brass bed, extra heavy comforter, and bathroom with a shower.

June 2012: Thank you very much for your great hospitality. We really enjoyed your B&B. It is a wonderful place. If we will come back to this area this is the place we would like to stay. The breakfast was delicious. You treated us like a part of your family. This was a wonderful experience for us. Ingrid & Herbert, Germany And the rest of our group of 10 persons

December 2011: … Marie P. & family, Toulouse, France Many thanks for your welcome here. This is a B&B as we have dreamed of! We are ready to be mountain men here P. Family (Toulouse, France)

June 2010: We’re leaving after spending less than 48 hrs. but already feel like family friends of Bill & Juanita. It’s amazing how the atmosphere they’ve created here at the Lodge generates a warm friendliness among us guests. I know we’ll be leaving w/ [with] a warm content feeling. I forgot to mention just how much we enjoyed Bill & Juanita’s stories, informative advice, & their sharing of their home. Thank you, folks! Mike & Donna, Manhattan, Kansas

June 2010: This is my second visit to Allenspark Lodge. What an unexpected delight to visit your home once again! Hiking the Walter Tishma Trail through the Rocky Mountain National Park - (Cub Lake – Storm Pass) - Twin Sisters –Wild Basin) with this stop as our last was like reaching out and grabbing the golden ring! A great reward for 4 days of hiking. Thank you. Mary, Mankato, Minnesota

September 2009: We are from Sydney, Australia traveling through the U.S. South West on our way to our son’s wedding in New Jersey. We have stayed in a variety of lodgings on our way – mostly associated with National Parks, but including a major Las Vegas hotel. This is the first place we have stayed where the “Landlord” has greeted us, shown us around, introduced the pets and entertained us at a sumptuous breakfast. We are only disappointed that we can only stay one night. - - Perhaps next time it will be longer. We came across the Lodge by accident and it was a real find. All the best, Jenny & Neal [Sydney, Australia]

August 2009: This has been a true “getaway” destination. Thanks for your gracious, welcoming spirit and the comfort and ease of your home & lodge. The breakfasts were delicious, and the long table discussions enjoyable. We’ll remember gentle Sophie, and Phoenix – cooing in her palace, and the busy hummingbirds as we lazed on the 2nd floor porch. Rich & Linda, Oak Park, Illinois

September 2008: Bill & Juanita (& Thomas too!) Of course we’ve browsed through other guests’ comments and endorse all – especially those on the opposite page... [As above] “This is truly a marvelous place to call home.” You clearly love it, you communicate that so generously to the guests you treat – and yet you share this piece of paradise – now that’s true American hospitality. We will remember you and Allenspark Lodge (and the incredible breakfasts) long after we’ve stopped remembering whether Long’s Peak is in Colorado or Wyoming! No wonder you’re in the “Lonely Planet Guide to USA”!! Thank you so much!! If you ever get Down Under, come & look us up. Cheers, Bill & Beti; Boomi, New South Wales, Australia Room 15:

July 2008: We’re packing up now wishing we could stay longer. Coming here has been like going to Grandma’s house when you’re little. There’s a big, home-cooked breakfast, warm cookies, and a comfy blanket to ward off the early morning chill. There are books and games and movies, and, most importantly, an abundance of comfort and peace. Needless to say, we love it here. We’ll be back soon, this time with friends and family in tow. Greg & Ellen, San Diego, California

June 2012: What a fabulous home! Even better than the picture! Your friendly atmosphere and warm, inviting way-of-life is just what we hoped for. Sophie is hilarious and we loved her company, too. Thank you for the fabulous breakfasts and lively conversations. We wish you continued joy, peace & happiness. Chuck & Beth, Enterprise, Alabama

August 2008: Thanks for making this a good stay! We love our room with the cool roofline & rafters. Aside from the amazing breakfast, my favorite place was the porch with hummers, though the hot tub after a long hike was also terrific. We were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary, and I’m so glad we found you! Thanks for being our home away from home. Meagan & Ben, Urbana, Illinois
